Evidence-Based Research and Data Collection/Analysis on the Unique Needs, Barriers, Challenges, and Experiences of Migrant and Refugee Communities Living in Aden
As part of our ongoing efforts to understand the needs of migrant and refugee communities in Aden, the SOS Foundation for Development has initiated an in-depth research study. This activity, designed to collect and analyze data on the experiences and challenges faced by migrants and refugees, is a crucial step toward integrating their voices into Yemen’s peace and reconstruction processes.
Field researchers were trained extensively on the use of data collection tools in collaboration with a consultant. They were equipped with the Kobo Toolbox program, which was installed on their phones, and participated in trial sessions using the research form to ensure accurate data collection.
A detailed work plan was reviewed and adjusted, covering individual interviews, focus group discussions, and questionnaire distribution.
The target groups for the research included:
- Field surveyors initiated comprehensive fieldwork by conducting interviews/li>
- Focus sessions
- Distributing questionnaires to gather first-hand information from the target groups
Next Steps: The research findings will be analyzed and compiled into a policy document. This will contribute to our ongoing local-led advocacy campaign aimed at ensuring the rights and experiences of migrants and refugees are prioritized in Yemen’s peacebuilding and post-conflict reconstruction efforts.
